MLB picks today for September 17, 2026: all 9 games on the board with a straight winner pick on each, plus the best number we could find across the major books — plus first-inning YRFI/NRFI leans for every matchup with confirmed starters. No standout value on today’s board — the market is pricing these tight, so shop the reference numbers below.

BetMan’s Gut Pick
San Diego Padres @ Colorado Rockies — San Diego Padres

Padres are just the better ballclub here and Coors weirdness aside, I trust the roster gap more than the price scares me. Lay the number and move on with your day.

Gut, not gospel — the value board is the math.

YRFI / NRFI Leans

BetMan5000
BetMan’s First-Inning Call
NRFI — Boston Red Sox @ Texas Rangers

Sonny Gray at 2.76 is the best arm on the board tonight and Tyler Alexander isn’t far behind, so a scoreless first lines up with both the model and the mound. Riding the strong lean here, no argument against it.

One call with a little feel behind it — the full board below is the math.
  • YRFI Milwaukee Brewers @ Pittsburgh Pirates — 51% chance of a first-inning run (Kyle Harrison (3.98 ERA) vs Wilber Dotel (4.84 ERA))
  • YRFI Los Angeles Dodgers @ Cincinnati Reds — 62% chance of a first-inning run (Justin Wrobleski (3.78 ERA) vs Brady Singer (5.38 ERA))
  • YRFI Athletics @ Tampa Bay Rays — 53% chance of a first-inning run (Jeffrey Springs (5.93 ERA) vs Drew Rasmussen (2.81 ERA))
  • NRFI San Diego Padres @ Colorado Rockies — 54% chance the first inning stays scoreless (Michael King (3.03 ERA) vs Tanner Gordon (5.55 ERA))
  • NRFI Philadelphia Phillies @ New York Mets — 52% chance the first inning stays scoreless (Aaron Nola (4.69 ERA) vs Nolan McLean (3.24 ERA))
  • YRFI Detroit Tigers @ Chicago White Sox — 64% chance of a first-inning run (Framber Valdez (4.01 ERA) vs Erick Fedde (3.97 ERA))
  • NRFI Boston Red Sox @ Texas Rangers — 62% chance the first inning stays scoreless (Sonny Gray (2.76 ERA) vs Tyler Alexander (3.38 ERA))
  • NRFI Minnesota Twins @ Los Angeles Angels — 57% chance the first inning stays scoreless (Taj Bradley (3.81 ERA) vs Walbert Ureña (2.88 ERA))

How we read these boards: how to read a matchup.

The Pick comes from our power ratings — season scoring differential, strength-adjusted matchup math, and home edge — blended with the market’s no-vig fair price; the number shown is that blend’s win probability. The Total is built the same way: we estimate each side’s scoring from what these teams score and concede (for baseball, adjusted for the listed starters and the ballpark), recentre that estimate against the day’s posted numbers so a modelling bias can’t tilt the whole board, and compare it to the line. A MODEL FLIP means our ratings like the side the market has as the underdog. A “VALUE” tag is a different thing: it means the best available number beats the fair price by 3–12% (sometimes that value sits on the side we don’t pick to win — a good price and a likely winner aren’t always the same bet). These are leans, not locks — decision support for bets you were already considering, on whatever book or market you use. Lines move; check the current number before you do anything.
